How Master Khechen’s Martial Arts is Preparing For Coronavirus & COVID19

The team at Master Khechen’s is committed, above all else, to the health and safety of our Members. We are taking this one day at a time as this is an unprecedented event that is occurring.

PREVENTATIVE MEASURES

Our Team is being very proactive in taking steps towards the health of our students and hygiene in our gym.

  • Limited Physical Contact – For the time being, we are implementing a policy of “Limited Physical Contact” in the school. This means no handshakes or high-fives, as well as limited physical contact during drills.
  • Washing Hands and Hand Sanitizer – All employees are required to wash their hands and use the hand sanitizer stations between classes. We strongly encourage our students to do the same.
  • Cleaning and Disinfecting – To help keep our school as safe and clean as possible, we will be doubling our efforts to clean and disinfect throughout the day. All door handles, light switches, tables, chairs, counters, and bathrooms will be disinfected multiple times a day.
  • Disinfection of Training Equipment – We will be working harder than ever to keep our equipment clean. Mitts, shields, and bags used in class will be disinfected between classes. As always, our mats will be cleaned and disinfected daily with hospital grade disinfectant.
  • Sick Policy – If any staff member of instructor feels ill, they will not be allowed to come to work. We also ask that if any student is feeling ill, they stay home as well. We will help you reschedule and make up classes as soon as you are feeling better!
  • Practice Good Hygiene Habits – Part of our mission at Master Khechen’s is to teach students good safety habits and self-defense skills. This includes proper hygiene! We will be reinforcing to our students the importance of washing their hands, coughing or sneezing into their arms, and not touching their face.

CLASSES & SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

We love our community and we love the families who are a part of it. We are not going to let this have a negative effect on your ability to enjoy being a member of our school.

We will continue to offer a full class schedule. We will serve you with all our special events such as Graduation Nights, Parent’s Night Out, and Seminars. We will limit the size of attendance to offer the safest and most confident environment possible. Please be assured, we will consistently monitor the right information from the CDC and local authorities to do what is best for our community as it is presented to us with this ever-changing challenge.

ONLINE CLASSES

While we are staying optimistic that we will not have to do so. In the event that we have to shut down for a short period of time, we are preparing a system of online training sessions that our students will be able to follow along with at home. All students will be able to continue training, making progress towards their belts, as well as earn attendance and requirement stripes.

CDC PREVENTION STEPS

We are also asking our students to follow the CDC’s prevention steps below to stop the spreading of illnesses.  Specifically:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask (not recommended- see website)
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

LEADERS DON’T PANIC, THEY PREPARE

While we recognize the seriousness of this virus, we also recognize that remaining physically fit is an important way to ensure a healthy immune system. Further, we believe that in times like these, it is important for kids to maintain as much consistency as possible, within reason.

Our goal is to employ practices that reduce risk while focusing on educating our students with empathy and compassion so they can balance their emotions with logic and information.

Thank you for your cooperation. We are hoping that everyone will do their part as we take every measure to keep our Academy a safe and clean environment.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
